The Native Youth Community Program partnership meeting was held April 2 at the Oklahoma State Department of Education. This was an opportunity for our tribal partners and school sites to come together, share updates, discuss plans we are developing for the grant, and collaborate on how we can continue to grow this work in meaningful ways for our Native students and communities. #WeAreLPS #LawtonPS #oklaed

Lawton FFA Members, Adley Dye (MacArthur Middle School) and Kadence Williams (MacArthur High School), were selected to present their animals at the Oklahoma Youth Expo Legislative Showmanship. This event provides a unique opportunity for livestock exhibitors to interact with state legislators and other dignitaries by coaching them through the livestock showing process in a friendly showmanship competition. Adley had the chance to coach Nathan Dethloff, a representative from the Office of Congressman Frank Lucas, as he showed her Yorkshire barrow, Slim Jim. Kadence passed the pig whip to State Representative Daniel Pae, to present her Hampshire barrow, Pretty Boy Floyd. #LawtonPS #WeAreLPS #oklaed

EMS and EHS Family: Last night (March 23), we received word of a social media post circulating with a threat. LPSPD and local law enforcement have been actively working the post. Out of an abundance of caution, our facilities were swept by LPSPD and Fort Sill explosive detection K9 teams and have been cleared. School is still in session today.
Law enforcement does have a person of interest they are investigating. We appreciate the information shared with our administrative team and law enforcement already. Please remember, if you see something, say something.
