Community Survey Launched to Collect Feedback
Lawton Public Schools (LPS) is launching a new strategic planning initiative this fall, beginning with a survey opportunity to hear from the community and stakeholders about its hopes and dreams for Lawton schools and students.
"The future of Lawton Public Schools belongs to all of us. By bringing together the voices of our students, families, employees, and community, we can build a shared vision that helps every school,” said LPS Superintendent Neal Weaver. “ Your voice counts."
The school district is working with the Oklahoma State School Boards Association and the K20 Center for Education Community Renewal at the University of Oklahoma to facilitate the Continuous Strategic Improvement (CSI) process.
From Sept. 14 to Oct. 12, stakeholders can complete an online survey at www.lawtonps.org about the district’s future. Community forums will be held in the coming months; details will be announced later.
School board President Elizabeth Fabrega urges all members of the district and community to participate in the process.
“LPS does not exist without the community of Lawton. Together we make Lawton Public Schools,” Fabrega said. “As school board members, we try to respond to the many messages we get from fellow parents, staff and community members. Now, we strongly encourage you to respond to inquiries regarding our new strategic plan. We are excited to build with you, Lawton.”
Planning teams involving community, business and school district representatives will use student achievement data, results from the survey and forums and research to develop the five-year continuous improvement strategic plan.
A proposed plan is expected to be presented to the school board for approval in March 2027.
