The Eisenhower Middle School Academic Team placed in the top 10 of their tested subjects at the Tournament of Champions on April 4 at Rose State College.
Samuel Kim, who competed against 72 students, placed second in 6th grade Math. Kathryn Satele, who competed against 48 students, placed ninth in 7th grade Math. Donovan Bear placed ninth in 8th grade Current Events and competed against 98 students.
The team qualified to participate in the Tournament of Champions when they earned top scores at the Moore Invitational Scholastic Competition in December: Samuel Kim placed first place for 6th grade Math, third place for 6th grade ELA, and third place for 6th grade Social Studies; Kathryn Satele placed third place for 7th grade Math; and Donovan Bear placed third for 8th grade Current Events.
This year 1,616 tests were taken and 564 students tested at the Tournament of Champions. Students tested in subjects such as Math (6th Math, 7th Math, 8th Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry), Science, Social Studies, ELA, Literature, Humanities/Fine Arts, and Drawing.
