The MacArthur High School JROTC Highlander Battalion placed first and was named Overall Grand Champions in the Southern Plains Classic Drill Meet held Feb. 21 at Tinker Air Force Base.
The battalion competed against Army, Navy and Air Force teams from Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas and Texas.
In the Armed Division, the Armed Drill Team, commanded by cadet Command Sergeant Major Scott Mahrer, placed second in the Exhibition Phase, third in the Inspection Phase and third in the Regulation Phase. In the UnArmed Division, the UnArmed Drill Team, commanded by Cadet Lieutenant 2nd Lieutenant Jasmine Kirksey, placed first in the Exhibition Phase, second in the Regulation Phase and second in the Inspection Phase. The Male/Armed Color Guard team, also commanded by Cadet Command Sergeant Major Scott Mahrer, won third place overall.
