Dr. Neal Weaver

Lawton, OK – Lawton Public Schools (LPS) Board of Education completed its search for the district’s new superintendent at the January 12 meeting with a unanimous vote naming Dr. Neal C. Weaver. Weaver, who is Deputy Superintendent of Operations for Santa Fe Public Schools in New Mexico, will assume his leadership duties July 1, 2026.

“We felt that LPS was on a strong path and we wanted someone who would be able to continue what we are doing and also bring some new ideas,” said Patty Neuwirth, LPS Board of Education president. “He has done extensive research of LPS and our Strategic Plan and is ready to continue with the next phase.”

Weaver began his education career in the classroom and has held leadership roles spanning instruction, operations, and organizational strategy. He will complete his service at Santa Fe Public Schools, where he led districtwide efforts across operational and instructional systems to modernize infrastructure, align resources, and improve teaching, learning, and student outcomes.

“I am deeply grateful to the Lawton Public Schools Board of Education for the time, care, and leadership they demonstrated throughout the superintendent selection process,” said Dr. Weaver. “I am humbled and excited for the opportunity to serve this community. I look forward to working in partnership with the Board, staff, families, and community members to build on the strong foundation already in place and to support every student as we prepare life-ready graduates.”

Weaver holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Eastern New Mexico University, a master’s degree in education from Eastern New Mexico University and a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands.

Professionally, he has served as past president of the New Mexico Society for Technology in Education, member of the New Mexico Coalition of Educational Leaders and Association of School Business Officials, as well as CETL Certification Governance Subcommittee. He also presented at various education conferences on topics which include AI, innovation, digital equity and instructional technology.

He has been involved in the community through partnerships expanding career pathways and workforce development opportunities, as well as past treasurer for the New Mexico Warrior Youth Hockey.

Neuwirth said the board was impressed by Weaver’s commitment to be involved with staff and students and build relationships with community members.

“We are excited to bring him to our school district,” said Neuwirth.
