MHS's Kenli Wade tees off at the MHS Invite

For the second straight year, the individual winner of the MacArthur High School Lady Highlander will belong to the host team. MHS senior Kenli Wade defended her title on a blustery spring day with an 18-hole score of 76 at the Lawton Country Club on March 23.

Wade, who is committed to continue her golf career at Redlands Community College, outlasted some of the top female golfers in the state, including the defending OSSAA 5A State Champion to win her second title at the Lady Highlanders home tournament.

The title came down to the last hole as Wade made the shots she needed to best a pair of Carl Albert golfers and two more from Duncan, that made up the rest of the top-5 individual finishers.

Duncan came away with the team win, shooting a score of 341. Bishop McGuinness finished second and Carl Albert third. The Lady Highlanders, coached by Michael Pooschke, finished fifth as a team with a score of 378.

Wade led the pack of MHS golfers with her score of 76, followed by junior Hallie Pooschke and freshman Maddie Pooschke, who each shot 97 and tied for 25th place. The quartet of Lady Highlanders was rounded out by sophomore Lexy Seeley, who shot a 108.

The Eisenhower High School Lady Eagles also competed on the familiar course, recording a team score of 459, led by junior Sydni Black who shot a 100 and finished in 34th place. Sophomore Sheridyn Wise and junior Ashley Ballard both shot 118 while junior Jurnie Svitak recorded a 123 and sophomore Madelyn McBride had a 140 during the windy Monday in March tournament.

The Lady Highlanders and Lady Eagles have a full spring schedule left to play now that their first tournament is out of the way. It all culminates with the OSSAA 5A State Championships in May, which will be played at the Shangri La Resort on Monkey Island on May 5-6.
