Lawton Public Schools offers a comprehensive system of “Child Find.” “Child Find” is a requirement of both Federal and State law. It mandates that each school district will locate, identify and evaluate, at no cost to the family, all students, ages 3-21, who are suspected of having a disability. Parent/Guardian can make referral by calling Special Services @ 353- 0334. Once you have referred your child, an evaluation will be conducted to assist in determining eligibility. Eligibility for special services is based on specific criteria established by the Oklahoma State Department of Education.

  • For a child younger than 3 years with suspected special needs, contact Sooner Start at (580) 585-6610.
  • • For children ages 3-21, who are attending a private and home school within LPS school district, contact Special Services at (580) 353-0334.
  • • For a school-age child with a suspected disability, please contact your child’s neighborhood school.
