LPS Summer Meal Program
LPS Summer Meal Program

As Lawton Public Schools (LPS) transitions from the spring semester into summer, one thing will remain in place to ensure students receive the nutrients they need to be strong and healthy: the LPS Meal Program.

The LPS Summer Meal Program will run similarly to how meal deliveries have functioned since Spring Break. Students will receive two meals a day—a lunch to enjoy that day, and a breakfast to enjoy on the next morning. All meals will be grab and go with no congregation planned for any locations this summer.

The following seven sites will be open from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. during the week for students to receive curbside/grab and go meals: MacArthur High School, Central Middle School, Crosby Park Elementary, Edison Elementary, Pat Henry Elementary, Freedom Elementary, and Pioneer Park Elementary.

Since every site cannot be physically open, over 70 bus stops have been put in place as meal drop-off locations. These locations are indicated on the attached flyer—they are part of a bus route that will begin at 11 a.m. and run through 12:30 p.m. Each stop on the route will have a specific time at which the bus should arrive, so students must ensure they are at the correct meal drop-off location at or before the indicated time.

LPS Director of Child Nutrition Daniel Ghrayyeb said once the Summer Meal Program gets into a good rhythm, they will add more variety to the menu and it will be ready to eat when the students pick it up.

“We wanted to make it as convenient and safe for the students to get meals,” Ghrayyeb said, “so with all of the uncertainty of what was open and closed, we decided to try to get the food as close to the students as we could.”

Meals will be available from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday-Friday to anyone under the age of 18 or currently enrolled as a student.

Please view the attached flyer for more information on the meal sites and delivery bus routes.
