Freedom Elementary receives LEED certification

At the Board of Education Meeting on Jan. 16, BWA Architects representatives Kirk Mackey and Clarence Williams presented LPS Board of Education president Carla Clodfelter with a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for Freedom Elementary School.

The U.S. Green Building Council created and awards LEED certifications to buildings/organizations that showcase sustainability and leadership. LEED certified buildings maximize occupant health and productivity, reduce waste and harmful environmental impacts, use fewer resources,and decrease life cycle costs.

A silver certification was awarded to Freedom in recognition of its sustainability efforts and achievements.
