We received several inquiries regarding school operations after Thanksgiving break. We will resume traditional classes on Monday, Nov. 30. We are still monitoring numbers daily. There has been no decision to go to a virtual platform district-wide. If there is a spike or shortage of staff, it will impact a school and not the district.
Many elementary families have received notice that devices will be coming home with students this Friday. The distribution of devices is something that was supposed to happen at the beginning of the year, but had not been practiced across the district. We were short student devices due to a shipment. Now that we have all of our devices in, we want staff and students to practice taking them home and bringing them back.
This process is new for our elementary schools, but not for our secondary students. Middle and high school students take their devices home daily already. There is no intention of assigning school work during Thanksgiving week. We want our families to enjoy the break. We are still proceeding with normal operations with safety as our top priority.
We know there are many variables that can happen during the break. We are simply ensuring we are prepared at all levels. As we return to school on Monday, Nov. 30, please stay home if you are not feeling well or if you are waiting on COVID test results. This is for your safety and those in the district.
