MacArthur High School

Boys and Girls soccer

At MacArthur High School there has always been good boys and girls soccer team.  The boys team has made the playoffs for the past 10 years.  They also have won city for the past 8 years in a row. The boys have made it to the state championship game twice.  Unfortunately, they lost both times they have been there.  This year the boys are a young team, It will take a lot of practice for the boys to be as strong as they usually are but they can do it.  The girls have been good in the past.  This year will be a great year for them.  They have all their players returning except for one.  This past season both boys and girls team won city, conference, and went to the playoffs.  The coaches for the boys team is Bill Scott and David Holland.  This is Coach Holland's first year with the boys team since Chris Tidwell retired this past season. Coach Scott has been with the boys for 13 years.  The girls coach is Skip Warner. Coach Holland use to coach the girls with Coach Warner, but that will not happen this year.  Each year on the boys team Coach Scott picks players number for them. He does not tell the players their number till a month before the season starts.  Numbers 2-11 are the starters.  Each year Coach Scott picks a player that he feels is one of the best, they have good leadership skills, and can handle pressure. That player will receive the number 10.
