"I was at my grandma's house, where my grandfather had died six months earlier, when my sister and I heard what sounded like someone walking slowly on the ceiling, said sophomore Chelsea Butler. My sister Ashley and I walked outside, but everything was completely still and nothing was there. We figured it must have been something else, so we went back inside. Later, my grandma, my mom, my sister and I were huddled around the television when all of a sudden a huge glass table fell over. This table probably weighed at least twenty-five pounds. No one knows why or how this table fell, but my younger sister swears it was a ghost. I still have no idea."

Do people really believe in ghosts? MacArthur high School sophomore Cayla Smith said, "Yes, because I once saw Abraham Lincoln's ghost in my living room, no lie!" Some people on the other hand do not believe in ghosts, "I don't believe in ghosts because they aren't real, but I do believe in spirits," said freshman Ariel Gilliespie.

What is the definition of a spirit? According to freedictionary.com, spirits are "the soul, considered as departed from the body of a person at death." MacArthur High School junior Desiree Jefferson also believes in spirits, "My uncle passed away during my sophomore year, and the following summer, I'm pretty sure I saw him inside my house."

Many people have seen ghosts and spirits depicted in movies and read stories of them, such as: Goosebumps, The Sixth Sense, White Noise, etc., but are they believable? Others might have seen actual photos or footage of the presence of a ghost and didn't know whether to believe if they were fact or fiction. No one really knows what ghosts are, but many people believe they know where they come from. Ghosts are believed to exist in a kind of limbo between heaven and hell in which they haunt the scenes of their deaths or locations that were pleasant to them in life.

According to Wikipedia, a ghost is defined as "an apparition of deceased person, frequently similar in appearance to that person, and usually encountered inplaces he or she had frequented, or in association with the person's former belongings."

The instant emotion experienced when seeing or feeling the presence of a ghost normally is fear. Some like to hunt ghosts as a career, and they continuously reach new points in research that help provide us more information about the paranormal. There us a ghost hunting show on Sci-Fi called Ghost Hunters where they continuously set different traps to try and find out if a ghost or spirit is present.

Another spooky story by Chelsea Bradley:

"I was at my friend's house, in her living room, and the sun was beaming through the dining room on the living room walls. The shadow of the window was on the wall. I was sitting on the couch watching television when, out of the corner of my eye, I saw two heads pass by without a body. There was a man and a woman, and the man wore a military hat, and the woman wore a feathery hat and had short, curly hair. I went outside to see if my friend's parents had walked by because we expected them home at any minute, but there was no one there. yes, I was a little scared, but I didn't actually see the ghosts, I just saw their shadows.

Another paranormal experience is one my dad had when he was young. He woke up in the middle of the night, so he went to his mom's room to sleep next to her. When he opened the door to his mom's room, she was sitting up in her bed looking at the foot board and snapped her head towards my dad, and asked, "Do you see it?" He looked at the foot of her bed and saw a ghost standing there with a nurse's hat and dress on, holding a baby boy in her arms. The very next day, my grandma went to the hospital and found out she was pregnant with my uncle.
