The first principal of MacArthur High School was Mr. Gene Rochelle. He was principal from 1970-1991. The second principal of MHS was Ann Coody. She worked with Gene Rochelle for 19 years, serving as assistant principal for 17 years. She was the principal from 1991-92 until the year 2000. Mr. Robert Roshell was the principal from 2000-2007. Mr. Kyle Smith is the current principal.

MacArthur High School was built in 1969. It is a two-story building with a one-story wing added 25 years after the original construction of the school and completed in 1994. The school has a 10,000 sq. ft. library media center which houses a collection of 12,000 books. There are three gymnasiums; one main gym, a smaller gym and a wrestling gym. A baseball field and track with a new locker room were completed in 2002. The main office, counselors offices, band room, vocal music room, cafeteria and over fifty classrooms make up a highly functional and attractive school facility.

 MacArthur High School takes its name from General Douglas MacArthur as well as its colors, and motto.
