Philip R. Smith - Principal

I am new to Hugh Bish and I am honored to be the principal of our Hugh Bish Knights! My recent assignments in LPS were principal of Wilson Elementary for six years, assistant principal at Douglas Learning Center for a year, and I began my teaching career at Park Lane Elementary where I was a classroom teacher for seven years. Prior to becoming a teacher I spent 20 years in the U.S. Army from which I retired in 1996 after 20 years of service. I am married to Renate and we have been married for 32 years. We have a son, Chad, a wonderful daughter-in-law, Jamie, and two AWESOME grandsons, Kaedyn and Paxton who reside in Edmond, Oklahoma. It’s a great day to be a Knight!

Secretary: Jan Fischer

Hi! My name is Jan Fischer.  I have two children, Taira and Trevan, and 5 grandchildren. I began my journey with Lawton Public Schools in August, 1988.  I LOVE being a school secretary! I strive to make the first impression of Hugh Bish a warm, pleasant, and friendly one. It is my desire to make each child feel loved and accepted at our school.  Whether it be to give a hug, take care of a boo-boo, wipe a nose, call a parent, or give an encouraging word, I am here for the children. In between these things, I try to keep accurate student and financial records. My mother always told me "If it is worth doing, it is worth doing your very best." That is my goal each and every day.

Counselor: Katy Isham

Mrs. Isham is excited to be the counselor at Hugh Bish Elementary. She has been teaching for 13 years for Lawton Public Schools.  She has taught 6th grade at Park Lane Elementary; 4th, 5th, and 6th grade at Jackson Elementary; and 6th grade at Tomlinson Middle School.  Mrs. Isham is available to work with all children in many ways. She is looking forward to the great opportunities ahead of her this year at Hugh Bish Elementary. 

Sarah Totte

Sarah Totte has been employed with Lawton Public Schools for eight years. She is currently working in her second year as a literacy coach for the district. Sarah taught in the classroom at Ridgecrest Elementary for six years prior to becoming a literacy coach. Sarah grew up in Lawton attending Swinney Elementary and Brockland Elementary, then moving onto Tomlinson Junior High, and finally graduating from Lawton High School. She attended Cameron University and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. Sarah enjoys spending time with her family, her husband Dennis and their son Luke. The Totte’s are avid OU fans and attend every football game possible. Boomer Sooner!
