Dear Parents,
Welcome to the Lawton Public Schools Pre Kindergarten Collaboration Website. Our hope as a district is to have space available for every 4 year old to be in an early childhood classroom. LPS Pre-K Collaboration was implemented in 2006-2007. The Collaboration was established as a partnership between Lawton Public Schools and two area programs: Crossroads Youth and Family Services and Playcare, Inc. In 2008-2009 LPS developed a new partnership with Ft. Sill at Tincher Child Development Center. Due to the increasing population on Ft. Sill from BRAC in 2010, additional classrooms were added at Tincher CDC and Grierson CDC along with Wonder Years and Creative Moments Child Care Facilities in the Lawton Community. Full-day Pre-K programs are offered at all sites with the exception of Wonder Years and Creative Moments which offer an AM and PM class respectively. Each site provides before and aftercare for students; benefiting working parents, military families and parents who otherwise could not afford daycare while they work. Lawton Public Schools provide state certified Early Childhood teachers and a teacher’s assistant in each collaboration classroom.
Lawton Public Schools has one of the largest and most successful collaborations in the state, serving approximately 400 students. The Collaboration partners meet every other month to discuss issues, concerns and celebrations under the direction of Karla Maudlin, Executive Director of Early Childhood/Elementary Education. This committee also includes Lynn Fitz, Executive Director of Special Services, Dr. Sharon Brady of Special Services and Dr. Ann Kaigler-Love Executive Director of Federal Programs.
My wish is to provide you with the information needed in selecting an exceptional early childhood program that best suites your family’s needs as well as providing a quality education for your child.
Sincerely,
Rhonda Weber
Principal Lawton Public Schools Pre-K Collaboration
