Principal's Feedback The first few weeks of school are over and the students and staff are settling in to the school year that lies ahead of us. We have had to make some decisions based on our enrollment that impacts our school. Based on enrollment, I had to decide if I wanted to change our split class from a 3rd/4th, to a 4th/5th split. I looked at the 5th graders we have this year and knowing that these were the same kids that we moved around at the beginning of last year, I decide not to change their classes again this year. What does is make our 3rd, 3rd/4th split, and our 4th grade classes a little larger then we would prefer. However, based on the information I had to go on, I felt that keeping our 5th grade smaller would benefit our school the most. We will continue to look at our numbers and as long as the numbers stay close to where they are today, we will not make any changes the rest of the year. Student Assessments Our students have been working hard in the computer lab since the start of school. We have given every student a STAR Reading and STAR Math test. These test provide us with valuable information on your child's reading and math levels. We have also begun our Success Maker program assessments. All students are taking a 300 question computer based test that will provides us a starting point for your child on the Success Maker program. Success Maker is a vital part of our school that provides individualized instruction for every child. |
Dismissal Procedures
Our students are released at 3:45 each day. If you are picking up a child please wait outside for your child to come out of the building. We release our students through a number of doors that make it quicker for our kids and staff. Here are our release points for our students: Kindergarten - South Doors 1st & 2nd Grades - East Doors 3rd & 4th Grades - West Door (Meet them behind the gym) 5th Grade - North Doors (Cafeteria Area) Please wait for your child at these locations! Attendance & Tardies The first bell is at 9:00 and our tardy bell is at 9:15 AM. Please make sure your child is at school by 9:00, or no later than 9:15. After 9:15 you will have to sign your child in at the office. Coming to school after 9:15 is TARDY and will be recorded as such. Our district procedure is that three tardies will equal one day of absence. If you take your child out of school early at the end of the day, your child will be marked either as a half day of absence, or they will be recorded as a tardy. A tardy is missing a part of a school day. It does not matter if the missing part of the day is in the morning, or the afternoon. Please make sure your child is in school on time and remains at school the entire day. |

Parent Volunteers We are always needing volunteers at Wilson to help do a multitude of tasks that will benefit our students. If you are wanting to volunteer just come by the office and talk to Mr. Smith. We can put you to good use doing such things as changing the marquee of events, filling our Food For Kids Backpacks for our Blue Baggers, or just helping copy things for our teachers. We are here for you and we need your help in providing a good education for our students. Parent Teacher Association Please join the PTA and become a working member of our Parent Teacher Association. Our teachers are expected to attend all meetings of the Wilson PTA. We hope that our show of support will bring our community into our school and into our PTA. Together we can make a difference for your children. We have to work together to make education successful for our students. |
Wilson's Honor Rolls
Your child can earn a place on two honor rolls at Wilson. The Principal's Honor Roll is for students who achieve all "A's" for the grading period. The Teacher's Honor Roll is for students who achieve "A's & B's" during the grading period. To receive an Honor Roll Certificate at the end of the year the student must meet the criteria for each Honor Roll for the entire year.
For a student to be listed on this page the parent must have signed an LPS Internet Release Form for the 2007 - 2008 school year, and parental permission has to be given.
