2010 ~ 2011 Academic Year

This will be an exciting school year at B.C. Swinney Elementary School!  We are looking forward to a fabulous year of learning and growing with our students, their families and our community. 

Our website is a great source of information about our school which highlights upcoming events and general information for families.

B.C. Swinney does not have extended day services; however there are many quality child care services in Lawton that serve our school.

We have many special student assemblies, academic programs and contests throughout the school year; please check the school newsletters for dates. It is sent home each week.

Jets are served breakfast, free of charge, each day through our universal breakfast program.

All parents are welcomed at Swinney! For the safety of our students we ask that you check in at the office to pick up a visitors badge. Please wear the visitors badge during your entire visit at our school.

Swinney is a Title I school.  We are able to offer the following:

• Reading Recovery
• Small group tutoring in math and reading
• Computer assisted instruction

 

Title I provides each student with a planner. Please use this organizational tool as one way to communicate with your child’s teacher. Students who are organized typically make better grades!

We take great pride in striving for excellence!  Our school uses best instructional practices and teaches academic strategies to help each student become successful. 

Our physical education program encourages healthy snacks and daily exercise as one of our goals to become a healthier school. The lunch program reflects this goal as well.

We hope that you will choose to become members of our PTA and Booster Club.  Our PTA is active and each year strives for 100% membership. 

Sports are facilitated through the Booster Club and we need 2010-2011 Booster Club Officers. Please contact Ms. Dering in August for more information
