Hugh Bish is a Blue Ribbon school
Today, the Blue Ribbon Schools Program serves three purposes. First, it identifies and recognizes outstanding public and private schools across the nation. Second, the Program makes research-based effectiveness criteria available to all schools so that they can assess themselves and plan improvements. Third, the Program encourages schools, both within and among themselves, to share information about best practices based on a common understanding of criteria related to educational success. Blue Ribbon Schools are models of both excellence and equity. To be recognized, a school must demonstrate a strong commitment to educational excellence for all students.
The Program welcomes applications from schools that have demonstrated sustained success in achieving these values, as well as schools that have overcome obstacles and can provide evidence of significant improvements.

We welcome appropriate visitors to our outstanding school.
Again, for everyone’s safety, please check in at the office before proceeding down any hallway.
Because the safety of our children is of the utmost importance to us all, children should not arrive at the school building before 9:00 a.m. unless they are eating breakfast which is served at 8:35 a.m. and is a Universal FREE BREAKFAST for all Hugh Bish students. Students NOT eating breakfast at school will enter the building at 8:50 a.m. in time for our daily morning assembly. Students arriving after 9:00 a.m. will be counted as tardy and must have a pass from the office to enter classrooms.
If your child is going to be late or absent, please call the office before 9:15 a.m. on that day. Children picked up before 3:45 p.m. must be checked out through the office and a photo ID is required as is the person picking up the student must be on the enrollment card as being authorized to do so. Students should be picked up promptly at 3:45 p.m.
Please remember, a picture ID is required to pick up a student and the person picking up the student MUST previously be listed on the enrollment card.
We use student planners at Hugh Bish. These planners
are used to help students learn organization skills,
track their own school work, keep a list of spelling
words, upcoming test and other events, as a reference
of the day’s work accomplishments, and as a daily communication
tool between home and school. The planners we use are
available ONLY at our school for a small cost of $5.00
each. See the office staff to purchase one.
Mrs. Schmahl sells healthy snacks and water daily in the gym.
Our PTA sells popcorn ($.50/fifty cents) and pickles ($.75/seventy-five cents) on most Fridays. We hope you will choose to become a member of our PTA ($5.00) and work with them in becoming a classroom volunteer.

Hugh Bish School Song:
Written by Mr. Bruce Brown, retired Music teacher from Hugh Bish Elementary.
We are the knights of Robin Hood’s land.
Gallant, brave, and strong we stand.
Nowhere in all the world around, can a finer school be found.
Orange and green our colors bright.
With brotherhood our hearts unite.
So let’s work together; it’s our best rule.
Cheering loud and long for Hugh Bish School.
