Donna Ronio

Area 1 Board Member

Donna Ronio was elected to Lawton Board of Education in February 2006, and was re-elected without opposition to a second term in 2011. She represents Area 1, which includes Geronimo Road, Ridgecrest, Jackson, Swinney, Sheridan Road, part of Pat Henry (west of 18th Street) and the Medicine Park elementary school districts, along with Beginnings and Learning Tree academies for preschoolers.

Ronio is a service order dispatcher for Professional Contracting Services, Inc. at Fort Sill. She and husband Steven are also the longtime owners of Lasting Impressions, a home retail business. She received her education in the Lawton Public Schools, along with Great Plains Technology Center and Cameron University.

Ronio is active in community affairs, serving on the board of the Lawton International Festival Committee. She is the Secretary for the Zone 1 North, Longview Heights Neighborhood Watch and is past president of the Jefferson Elementary PTA, a position she held for two years.

 
Helena John

Area 2 Board Member

Helena John took her seat on the Lawton Board of Education in February 2007. She is the immediate past president of the board and represents Area 2, comprised of the Hugh Bish, Brockland, Crosby Park and Edison elementary school districts.

John is a product of the Lawton Public Schools, having attended Pecan Grove Elementary, Tomlinson Jr. High and Eisenhower High School. She is an alumna of the University of California-Los Angeles. Four of her children graduated from EHS and one currently attends Oklahoma State University while two are OSU grads. A fifth child attends Crosby Park Elementary

John is employed as an assistant vice president by BancFirst in Lawton. She and husband Brent (who attended Woodland Hills Elementary, Eisenhower Jr. High, Eisenhower High and Cameron University) own the Game King franchise in Lawton

John has been active in parent-teacher associations for many years, including past local, council, state and national PTA executive board positions. She is currently the president of Crosby Park Elementary PTA and the Oklahoma PTA State Treasurer. She is a sustainer of the Junior League of Lawton, second vice president of the Lawton Business and Professional Women's Club, a Great Plains AMBUCS Board Member and a member of the Lawton Rotary Club. She also serves on the United Way and the Lawton Community Theatre board of directors.

 
Eric Sharum

Eric Sharum

Area 3 Board Member

Eric Sharum joined the board in 2008 and currently serves as its president. He serves Area 3, which includes the Carriage Hills, Sullivan Village and Park Lane elementary districts, along with portions of the Lincoln (east of 6th Street) and Pioneer Park (south of Rogers Lane) districts.

Originally from Iron River, Michigan, Sharum is a graduate of West Iron County High School. He graduated from Brown Institute in 1987, specializing in broadcasting and communications. His wife, Cae, attended Cleveland Elementary. Their sons, Caleb and Joshua, attend Lawton schools.

Sharum came to Lawton in 1987 where he forged a 20-year career in broadcasting at KKRX-FM, KSWO-TV and KLAW-FM. He continues to do broadcasts on KZCD-FM where he does play-by-play for Lawton High football, a role he has had for the past 13 seasons.

A realtor with RE/MAX Professionals, Sharum has served as president of the Pioneer Park Booster Club and coached numerous sports. He is a member of the Lawton Parks and Recreation Commission and served on the Holiday in the Park committee in 2007.
 
George Schutz

President

Dr. George Schutz is a local physician and medical director of diagnostic imaging at Comanche County Memorial Hospital. He currently serves as board president.

Schutz was educated in the Lawton Public Schools and graduated from Lawton High School in 1980. He is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine. Schutz completed his residency at the University of Florida, where he went on to serve as an assistant professor of radiology. He and his wife, Simone, have three children. Erik and Alexis are graduates of Eisenhower High School, and Christina current attends EHS.

Schutz was elected to the Lawton Board of Education in February 2009. The area he represents covers the following elementary school districts in western Lawton: Cleveland, Country Club Heights, Eisenhower, Howell, Almor West and Woodland Hills, along with a portion of Lincoln (west of 6th Street).

Vice President

Kent Jester took his seat on the Lawton Board of Education in February 2010. He currently serves as the board's vice president. Area 5 serves the Adams, Douglass, Washington, Whittier and Wilson elementary school districts, along with a portion of Pat Henry (east of 18th Street) and Pioneer Park (north of Rogers Lane) districts.

A longtime Lawton resident, Jester graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1974. He and his wife, Joan, a Lawton High grad, have four children who are products of the Lawton Public Schools.

Jester has been active in PTSA and booster clubs, and has coached baseball, basketball and soccer. He is also involved in many civic, business, community and church organizations, including the Great Plains AMBUCS, in which he served as president and district governor.

As president and CEO of Arrow Sign Company, Jester is a past president of the Oklahoma Sign Association and was inducted into the Oklahoma Sign Association Hall of Fame. He has served on past City Charter Review and City Sign Code committees and is a member of the City Redistricting Committee.

 
Col. Hossenlopp

Col. Paul S. Hossenlopp

Fort Sill Representative

Following graduation from the Artillery Officer Basic Course, Colonel Hossenlopp’s initial assignment was as a Battery Fire Direction Officer with Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 17th Field Artillery at Fort Sill, OK, where he later served as the Battery Executive Officer, Assistant S3, and Battalion S1 during deployment to Southwest Asia as part of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Upon graduation from the Artillery Officer Advanced Course, Colonel Hossenlopp was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 11th Field Artillery, 6th Infantry Division at Fort Richardson, AK, where he commanded Charlie Battery. Following this assignment, COL Hossenlopp was assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division where he commanded Alpha Battery, 21st Field Artillery Regiment, and served as aide-de-camp to the Division Commander.

Following service as aide-de-camp, COL Hossenlopp served in the World Class Opposing Forces with the Battle Command Training Program (BCTP) at Fort Leavenworth, KS, before attending the US Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC).

Upon graduation from CGSC, COL Hossenlopp was assigned as an Assistant Fire Support Coordinator for the DIVARTY, 1st Cavalry Division, and later as the Battalion S3 for the 1st Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery, and the Executive Officer for the 3rd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery at Fort Hood, TX. Following his service with the DIVARTY, 1ST Cavalry Division, Colonel Hossenlopp served as the assignments officer for Majors and Colonels at Human Resources Command, Washington D.C.

On 30 June 2005, Colonel Hossenlopp was assigned to Fort Hood where he assumed command of the 1st Battalion, 21st Field Artillery Regiment. Following battalion command, in June 2007, he served as the Deputy Commander, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, deploying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) in the Al Rasheed District of Southwest Baghdad. In the summer of 2009 he attended the United States Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, PA. From June 2010 to May 2011, Colonel Hossenlopp commanded the Fort Hood Warrior Transition Brigade.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (2), Meritorious Service Medal (5), Army Commendation Medal (6), Army Achievement Medal (7), National Defense Service Medal (2), Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Defense of Saudi Arabia Medal, and Parachutist’s Badge. Colonel Hossenlopp has a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Health from Xavier University in Cincinnati, a Master of Science Degree (Administration) from Central Michigan University and a Master of Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.

COL Hossenlopp and his wife, Shelley, have been married for 21 years and have two children.
