Welcome to our "Knights in shining armor" new web site for our school. This site is new for the 2007-2008 school year and will progress all year. We welcome your comments and suggestions. Send us items you would like to see added to the site. We must, however, operate under the guidelines of the Lawton Public Schools so some items may not be allowed. Send your suggestions and ideas to our webmaster by clicking HERE. Please put the words "Hugh Bish web site" at the beginning of the message. Please note you should refresh your browser or set your browser to automatically check for updates as we will make frequent updates and your browser must update to find our most current information. New note: please remember this site is new this year for Hugh Bish, it will go through many changes and we will have updates frequently. Although from time to time while we are working on a total rewrite of the web site, some updates may not be posted as soon as we would like. The second year should offer much more information and will be not only more easily updated by the school, but more easily navigated by all.
We have shortened this opening page. Do not miss previous information! To view previously posted information from this page click HERE to go to the archive page.

Summer Reading Opportunity The International Reading Association has a wonderful reading resource on their web site. Please view this information and encourage your children to take advantage of this opportunity. When parents are seen reading, they set an example for their children; when parents read with their children, they show the child they care about their reading. The
following is from their site. ReadWriteThink.org is proud to announce that Learning Beyond the Classroom, our site designed to help children and teens continue to build their literacy learning outside of school, is growing. The site now offers even more activities for children ages 4 to 18. In addition, the site includes booklists, reading logs, book review podcasts, and best practice videos to help caregivers and tutors make the most of summer reading and writing opportunities. To see all of these features and more, please visit www.readwritethink.org/beyondtheclassroom/summer. ReadWriteThink.org is a nonprofit web site maintained by the International Reading Association and the National Council of Teachers of English, with support from the Verizon Foundation and in association with the Thinkfinity.org program. We thank you for your support of the Learning Beyond the Classroom project and hope that you will help us spread the word about this great resource.
Spring
Carnival The spring carnival was a great success due to your support. The horse rides by Mr. Arrington, the Moon Bounce, and the Dunk Tank were the biggest hits. We only managed to take a couple of photos, they happen to be of our new principal this year, Mrs. Barrett. She seemed to stay in the water a good deal of the time. Here are two photos of her; one getting ready on the board in the tank, one you have to look closely to see her "in the water". Thanks again.
NO SCHOOL We have two inclement weather days built into the annual school schedule This year we did not need to use them. Therefore the days set aside will be "Out of School" days for all. The dates for these days are

Please watch for details soon as we will have a web page just for ways to help the school in raising money, donating library books, etc. When sending ink jet cartridges, PLEASE, put them in a zip lock bag so students do not get ink on them or the school supplies.
Save your Box Tops More information coming soon, but for now, look for the Box Tops for Education coupon on almost anything. We have added a printer friendly version of the graphic below if you want to see on what all the box tops are available. We will have more information soon on a separate web page within this site.
