Welcome to an exciting new school year at B.C. Swinney Elementary School. I am looking forward to a fabulous year of learning and growth with our students and community.
This is my twentieth year in education. I graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education in 1989 and began my teaching career in Menlo Park, California. I moved to Kansas and taught there for six years during which I completed my Master’s in Education focused on Educational Leadership from the University of Kansas. I have been with Lawton Public Schools since 1998 and in 2006 I became an assistant principal at Sheridan Road Elementary. This fall I was named the principal at Swinney Elementary.
It is an exciting time in education and as an educational leader I am passionate about increasing student achievement and providing quality instruction. Together, with the faculty and staff at Swinney Elementary, we will strive to foster positive student behavior in a positive and safe learning environment. We value our parent and community involvement and are truly grateful for all the support they provide. We can all have a positive impact in the lives of our students and offer them the skills they need to be life-long learners. By partnering together, we can support the students through their educational journey!
