School Information:
B.C. Swinney Elementary School is located in the heart of Lawton, on 23rd and Baltimore. It is one of the oldest elementary schools in the community. B.C. Swinney was named for the long-time educator, Bascom Clark Swinney, who served as junior high principal, senior high principal, and superintendent during his educational career. In May, 1946 he the first coordinator of curriculum for the state department of education. More than 50 years later, B.C. Swinney Elementary continues the tradition of Bascom Clark Swinney in providing high-quality instruction in a supportive learning environment that enables the children we serve to meet the State’s student academic achievement standards.
Establishment Date:
On December 8, 1952, dedication ceremonies were held for the B.C. Swinney elementary School, 23rd and Baltimore in Lawton.
