Great things are happening at Howell Elementary. We are a small school with a family environment. Because we are a Title I school, our students have the benefit of a full time counselor, two computer labs, tutors who work with them in the classrooms, two reading specialists, a large variety of resources for Reading and Math and a Parent Coordinator to serve as a liaison between home and school. The combination of a great staff and hard working students has made our API increase from 907 to 1419 over the past four years. We practice Great Expectations and focus our instruction on brain based learning and differentiated instruction.
Students in our immediate neighborhood participate in the Safe Routes to School Walking School Bus Program every day before and after school. We start off each day with Tiger Take-off Assembly in the gym from 8:45-9:00. Each Friday, we have Tiger Time Assembly from 9:30-10:00. Visitors are encouraged to attend our Friday assembly. We have an active P.T.A. with over 100 members. Our sports program is organized through the Boys and Girls Club located at 1315 SW "F"Avenue. Call (580) 357-7541 for more information.
