  • * Students will not be given any medications without completion of forms.

SCHOOL ATTENDANCE:
School attendance is crucial for a child’s academic success. If your child is ill, has a doctor’s appointment, dentist, funeral, etc. please CONTACT the office. This is important in helping us document what type of absence your child will receive. There are 3 types of absences; excused, verified, and unexcused.

An excused absence is simply documented when a child is unable to attend school and you as a parent have notified the office. It is still as an absence, but with parental contact. This will still count toward the 10 day attendance law that says a child may not be absent more than 10 days per semester. A verified absence is documented when a parent brings a doctor’s, dentist, etc. note to school when the child returns. This type absence will be recorded on the report card as an absence but will NOT count against a child with the truancy law. An unexcused absence is documented when there is no communication from the parent as to why a child is absent from school. This will count as an absence and will be turned over to the District Attorney if 10 days are missed in a semester.

TRAFFIC:
Our bus zone is located on the south side of our school. PLEASE do not park in that area. The front of the school has become very congested in the morning drop off times and the afternoon pick up times. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE A VEHICLE UNATTENDED AND COME INTO THE OFFICE! You must pull into a vehicle parking space if coming into the building. This stops the flow of traffic and is inconsiderate of others. We get so many phone calls in the office concerning this issue. LPS security and LPD will be watching this very closely and writing citations for not cooperating with this safety concern.

SCHOOL SAFETY:
Many of our procedure are in place because of the events that have occurred in our recent national history. The safety of our students is a priority.
  • * If you have an emergency and need to pick up your child before 3:45 you must come to the school office. Teachers will not be allowed to release students to anyone at their doors or from their classroom.
  • * Please do not stand in the hallways in the morning or after school. You may wait for students on the front patio or in your vehicle. • We appreciate those of you who volunteer in the classrooms! We want you to be here, but YOU MUST SIGN IN AT THE OFFICE BEFORE YOU GO TO THE CLASSROOMS.
  • * As children leave the school grounds, they are required to use the crosswalks.
  • * Be polite to the neighbors. DO NOT BLOCK DRIVEWAYS.

BICYCLES:
We will insist that students walk their bicycles after school until they get out of the heavy traffic around the school. Please provide a padlock for the bicycle and instruct your child in bike safety.
