Enrollment Guidelines
- All students enrolling in the Lawton Public Schools for the first time must provide immunization records. Students entering Lawton Public Schools from other schools should present withdrawal records, report cards, copies of transcripts and other school records. Students entering kindergarten or first grade for the first time must also present a birth certificate and Social Security number.
- Under Lawton Board of Education policy, a student must be six (6) years of age on or before September 1 of the school year to be admitted to first grade, unless the student has be in legal attendance in a kindergarten program in another state.
- Both new and returning students have to enroll.
- Secondary students who are new to the Lawton Public Schools, however, may visit their new school immediately to begin the enrollment process. New students should enroll as soon as possible to get a better selection of classes.
- At the regular enrollment times secondary students who have pre-enrolled will pick up their class schedules for the new school year.
- Buses - Elementary students who live one mile or more from school and secondary students living one and one-half miles or more from their school are provided with free transportation. Information regarding bus routes and stops is listed elsewhere in this publication.
- Other Services - The Lawton Public School District includes the following exemplary
programs and services: Adult and Community Education, Gifted and
Talented, Pre-Kindergarten classes for four-year-olds, Guidance
and Counseling, Health Services, PARENT Program, Limited English
Proficiency Program, and an extensive Special Education Program.
